Where and why
Italy, Turin, Aurora, BasicVillage.
In an historical period in which it’s fundamental for Italy to take advantage of our historical and cultural identity, it’s twice as important that we want to make it the cradle of such an educational project: it’s important because it’s a symbol of trust in the school’s goal of creating professionals, free thinkers, citizens that will have to write the future history of this country. It’s important because it’s the – little – cornerstone of a change that will take us to trust the endless resources of a country that has always been the birthplace of great ides and minds.
We want to make this institution a cultural infrastructure that will lead this change.
From this point of view, Turin is a great – if not perfect – place for this kind of school. With its traditional opening towards the whole Europe (and the world) and the ideas that come from, the city offers a reservoir of human, intellectual and institutional resources that are critical for the good outcome of such an ambitious project. Aurora district especially, thanks to its recent renewal, is the perfect place in which to put an educational reality that longs for integrating by completing the human and urban space in which it’s set.
BasicVillage even more is a symbol of functional requalification pointed towards the future, and will offer our school a window of comparison and discussion, thus enriching the didactics and the experiences, making it unique.
